C’est à l’âge de 5 ans que j’ai commencé à dessiner des arabesques sur la patinoire. Mon avenir était tout tracé dans le patinage artistique. Mais à 17 ans, mon corps m’a trahi et mes jambes se faisaient de plus en plus lourdes. Les médecins m’ont dit: “Le patinage, c’est fini!” Dès lors a commencé pour moi une suite de tunnels plus ou moins longs et lugubres, mais la traversée de chacun d’eux m’a apporté plus de force et de confiance. Après la maturité, j’ai pris mon envol vers d’autres horizons pour commencer l’École d’hygiénistes dentaires à Genève. Une année plus tard, on m’annonçait que j’avais une sclérose en plaques. Après cette sacrée gifle, j’ai décidé de terminer mes études et de me former pour devenir juge de patinage. Aussitôt dit, aussitôt fait! Déjà en chaise roulante, j’ai pu travailler en cabinets dentaires et vivre ma passion en jugeant de nombreuses compétitions de patinage artistique dans toute la Suisse. Amoureuse de la vie et des gens, je me suis engagée dans différents projets innovants dans le domaine de l’intégration de la personne handicapée.Lorsque j’ai découvert la possibilité d’ouvrir la porte à l’aide d’un bouton fixé à une chaise roulante, cela m’a fascinée. Il y a 10 ans maintenant que j’ai apprivoisé « James », mon fidèle compagnon. Depuis le début, diverses options se sont ajoutées. En caressant un bouton fixé à mon appuie-tête avec mon oreille droite, je peux contrôler tout mon environnement. Cela commence par la commande des portes et de l’ascenseur de l’immeuble. Vient ensuite le maniement des stores de la terrasse, pour aller lézarder au soleil et faire mes téléphones. Je poursuis en l’utilisant comme télécommande pour mes appareils audiovisuels. Et je termine la soirée en choisissant la position souhaitée de mon lit et en éteignant la lampe, pour glisser dans les bras de Morphée…
